meso-split flap

Background

When the Deutsche Bahn decided to dismantle all of the split flap displays in Frankfurt/Main central station, we were lucky to grab as many as we could from them. The only wish the Bahn officials had was that we donate a certain amount of money to a charitable organisation, which we happily did.
Numerous projects habe already been suggested about the usage of these displays. We are in the process of compiling the knowledge and technology to work with the split flap modules themselves. The cases of the displays, however, have not found a destination yet. We are open to suggestions as to what to make with them.

Contact max wolf (at) meso.net if you are interested, or hava any suggestions.

meso-split flap:cases - here are some details & images of the cases.
meso-split flap:technical? - Some info of general interest about the design & addressing of the actual split flap modules will go here (later).

by the way, here's an article on wikipedia that shows the exact objects which we were able to put our hands on shortly afterwards:http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallblattanzeige
