Sorry for that ugly error-message.
Please run crack.exe where you should be notified of a missing DirectX9 installation. Best download and run the WebInstaller which should solve the problem.

• Have you run crack.exe at least once as Administrator? even if you are admin try to rightclick crack.exe and "Run as Administrator"

• Scroll down a little to read about known issues with 3D Studio Max

• Are you using Windows 7 and running VVVV out of the c:\Program Files folder? There might be a user rights issue with registering Plugins (at least in Beta 24.1) - try putting your VVVV folder at an unprotected location like your desktop and try running as administrator again.

The Renderer's Window is gray

This is almost certainly a graphic driver problem. Make sure you have its latest version installed or even cosider a graphic card upgrade if the problem persists.

Text (EX9) doesn't work / Mesh (Collada) is missing

Please run crack.exe and see if .net and DirectX are installed correctly.

Seems the vvvv_45betaXY.zip was not unzipped correctly.

• Make sure you have unzipped at all: Windows opens .zip files like directories and lets you start vvvv.exe without unzipping the whole .zip. That won't work!
• On unzip make sure you have the option use folder names checked.

Nodes have an ugly/unreadable font

vvvv is designed to run at 96DPI, make sure you have that set on your desktop:

• on winXP try this:

rightclick on your desktop > properties > advanced > allgemein (i.e. the first tab)
here you need to set your dpi settings to: 96

• on win7 try that:

rightclick on your desktop > Screen Resolution > Make text and other items larger or smaller.
then in the left column: Set Custom Text Size (DPI): Choose 100%/96DPI

/logstartup

Start vvvv with the Commandline Argument /logstartup

Use this if you have troubles starting vvvv. With this flag vvvv logs all steps it does on startup into a .txt file, placed next to vvvv.exe. You can then post that textfile to the forum and we'll see what we can do.

Renderer (TTY)

Always use a Renderer (TTY). This is also vvvvs error console so it may provide some information you could post in the forums.
